How do I place an order?
All you need to order with us is your prescription. Your eye care practitioner must, by law, provide you with a copy of your prescription.
How do I obtain my prescription?
Your eye care practitioner is required under law to give you a clear, legible copy of your prescription following your eye test. You are NOT required to purchase your eyewear from the provider of your eye test.
What type of lenses do you use?
We offer the widest selection of lens materials currently online. Because we own and operate our own lab, we can process virtually every lens offered in the industry. When new products are introduced by the lens companies, we absolutely want these great products to be available to you. We will also be adding lens designs not offered by other online retailers in the near future.
Do you sell prescription sunglasses and other tinted lenses?
We have a variety of colors of tints or glasses can be made with the "transition" photosensitive feature. This type of lens is clear in normal lighting conditions, but tints itself under sunlight and includes a 100% UV filter. If you would like a tint added to your lenses, we will do this complimentary. We highly recommend polarized lenses for prescription sunwear as this gives you the best outdoor protection as well as the best glare reduction and eye comfort.
Do you sell bifocal and Trifocal lenses?
Yes we offer both of these lens styles and in various sizes. Under the category listings you will see these in clear, Transitions®®, and polarized options. Again we offer the widest selection for you to choose from.
What is the segment shape of bifocal lenses?
We use D28 bifocal lenses. These are 28mm wide "D" shaped segments that are positioned vertically 3mm below the center of the lens and horizontally are centered on your pupillary distance. If you would like them to be positioned further up or down (higher or lower) then do state on your order or contact our customer service at to discuss. We can also make up D35 bifocal lenses which at 35mm are slightly wider, and executive bifocals that stretch across the whole width of the lens. For customers that want the older "round" seg bifocal styles, we will be adding these by August of 2009.
Do you supply progressive lenses?
Yes we offer the widest choice of progressive, or no line, lenses online. There are many progressives to choose from and we only work with the best performing designs on the market, even with our standard designs.
How long before I get my glasses?
Glasses are sent via Priority Mail. You do not have to be at home to receive your glasses. Delivery is usually within 7 working days, subject to the complexity of the prescription and coatings. Allow additional time for our premium anti reflectives. They are well worth the wait!
Can I use my contact lens prescription for ordering glasses?
No, your contact lens and eyeglasses prescriptions usually have differences. You must have your eyes tested and a prescription issued for use with eyeglasses which is not expired. We highly recommend that you see your eye care professional regularly. This is important not so much for the prescription, but for early detection of eye conditions that can be caught early enough for treatment.
What is my Pupilary distance (PD), and how do I obtain it?
PD is the distance from the centre of the pupil (black spot) in one eye to the center of the pupil in the other eye. This measurement improves the positioning of your lenses within the frame you have chosen. It can be provided in minutes by your optician or doctor, and so we recommend that you ask for it when you have your eyes tested. Alternatively, you may also choose to use an average PD determined by age, or you may have someone measure it for you. These measurements are always in millimeters(MMs).
What do the numbers on my Rx mean?
Many times we are given prescription strength as 20/50, 30/100, etc....this information does not translate into an actual prescription that we can use. The Rx prescription is written in diopter form such as -1.00 or +1.75. These "steps" indicate the power change needed for you to see clearly.
EXAMPLE-- OD -1.25 -.50 x 35
OS -2.00 SPH
The OD is the right eye and the OS is the left eye. The first number is the spherical power in diopters and the second number is the cylindrical or "astigmatism" amount for the eye. With astigmatism, an axis must be given (the 35 degrees). Notice that the left eye has no second number. This means that the lens will not have astigmatism and no axis is needed.
If you are not sure of your prescription, Email us and we will be happy to help you.
What if I entered some information wrong?
Immediately call or send an email alerting us, because we process orders very rapidly. For this reason we ask you to please double-check your prescription and shipping information prior to submitting your order. Once you've placed your order you are given the option of printing it off, we recommend you do this for future reference.
What if my frames need adjustment after I receive them?
If you need a minor adjustment, most optical stores will do it for free or a small fee. Generally, an adjustment can be done at no charge. We do adjustments for glasses purchased elsewhere all the time.
What is this 100% guarantee?

Can I just order frames/lenses with no prescription in them?
Yes! Just select "I will purchase the frame only"
Can you read my prescription off my existing glasses?
Yes we can, you may send in your glasses with a completed mail order form for us to read the prescription from them. There is no additional charge for this service. We will return your glasses to you following taking a reading from them.
Can you put lenses in my existing frames?
Yes we can. However we cannot be responsible for patient supplied frames. We have over 20 years experience in processing glasses and will handle your frame with great care. We do ask that you use good judgment in determining the condition of the frame. We can mount lenses in specialty frames (inserts, sports goggles etc.).
Can I inspect the frames before purchase?
We understand that order a frame by image only can be difficult. You may choose up to three frames for us to send to you to try before purchasing. We do ask for credit card information to keep on file. We will charge your card a deposit fee of $10 per frame sent to you. The full price for the frames will be charged if not returned within 30 days.
What do the Frame Measurements mean?
The easiest way to get the right frame size is to get the dimensions from a comfortable pair of glasses you already have.
The "A" measurement is the wide of the lens
The "B" measurement is the height or depth of the lens.
The "DBL" is the Distance Between Lenses. It is the bridge width of the frame.
They do not need to be exact, but the closer they are to your existing pair, the more likely your new glasses are to be a comfortable fit.
The following guidelines may help in your frame selection.
| Body Size | Lens | Bridge | Arm/Temple |
| Small female | 46-48 | 16-18 | 130-135 |
| Avg. Female/Small Male | 48-50 | 17-20 | 135-140 |
| Avg. Male/Large Male | 50-52 | 17-20 | 135-145 |
| Large Male | 52-58 | 18-22 | 140-150 |
Bifocal Heights?
Unless otherwise stated in your order (in the special instructions section) our Opticians will follow Industry Guidelines for Multifocal placements. Standard bifocals will be placed 3 mm below the geometric center of the lens (1/2 lens height minus 3mm). Trifocals will be placed on the geometric center (1/2 lens height) Progressive heights will be set following pre-established guidelines for each frame. Please contact us via Email for further information on any special requirements you may have. We have great experience in placing bifocals correctly in lenses and we even advise opticians and doctors offices for these placements.
If you are sending existing glasses, we will use the existing bifocal placement as a guide for the new lenses.
